Q. Who should be notified when an employee moves or changes his/her address?
A. Employees should go to the JSD website under "Faculty & Staff" and select "Employee Access". Login using your ID and password and request to change your address. If you have never received a login or password, contact Information Systems.

Q. What should an employee do if he/she believes his/her salary placement is incorrect?
A. An employee has 30 days after their first paycheck to request a review of his/her salary placement and provide Human Resources with proper employer verification and/or educational transcripts. The employee is NOT entitled to retroactive pay.

Q. If an employee plans to retire or resign, what must he/she do and how much notice must they give Human Resources?
A. Certificated employees planning to RESIGN are required to provide Human Resources with 30 days written notice or pay a $500 fine. (DP318 – Resignations – Certificated). Classified employees planning to RESIGN are required to provide Human Resources with two weeks’ notice (DP318B – Resignations – Classified). All employees planning to RETIRE from Jordan School District under the provisions of the Utah State Retirement Act are required to give Human Resources 30 days notice. Q. If an employee is absent for more than three (3) days, when should he/she apply for FMLA?
A. On the fourth consecutive day of absence, an employee must apply for FMLA, if the leave taken is for a serious medical reason. This would include surgeries, maternity leave, hospitalizations, or to care for a family member with a serious health condition. Colds and flu’s are exempt from this rule. However, complications like pneumonia resulting from colds would be covered under FMLA. The FMLA forms are available on our website (www.jordandistrict.org).

Q. What happens to employees who are displaced from my school?
A. At the end of every school year, some part-time employees become displaced. Once Human Resources receives the Part-time Displaced Application, displaced employees are added to the Displaced Applicant spreadsheet. This list is forwarded to principals with openings.

Q. Who authorizes NO PAY days for employees?
A. Employees shall be discouraged from requesting a personal leave absence during the school year; however, in the event that an employee has a serious or compelling need for an unpaid leave of absence, a request may be made in writing to the appropriate area administrator PRIOR to the requested date of the leave. Leaves of absence granted under this policy shall be without pay and contracted employees shall not be granted more than 15 days of leaves of absence under this policy in any 3-year period. Q. What is the purpose of the Employee Contract Verification?
A. It is important for Human Resources and the Payroll Department to have each contracted employee verify their salary and placement to ensure our data accuracy. Employee Contract Verifications will occur every November.

Q. What documentation can schools expect to receive from Human Resources to indicate the new employee is cleared to begin work?
A. Prior to completing any work for JSD, the school/department secretary must schedule the employee for a new employee orientation. Once all information has been submitted by the employee during the orientation, the employee will receive the “Blue Sheet” which indicates the employee may begin working.

Q. How can I view my salary/contract for mortgage loans, employment verification purposes, etc.?
A. Click HERE to Log onto the Skyward Gateway page where all your employment information is password protected, but viewable to you! If you do not know your Login/Password, follow the prompts under "Forgot my Login/Password", and they will be emailed to you.
